This is the first Galaxy M series to support 5G networks: the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G. It has many features, looks beautiful, and is cheaper than the Galaxy A. Like what?

Unlike the A series, the Galaxy M series used to have 2 characteristics. First, the large battery that is highlighted can last all day. Second, the marketing is limited to online only (on the marketplace or Samsung’s official website). The Galaxy M52 5G has a lot in common with the Galaxy A52s 5G. The difference is in the screen size, battery, camera, and IP68 water and dust resistance certification. The specifications for the M52 5G series are deliberately positioned below the Galaxy A52s 5G series.

Unboxing

If you look at the box and the contents of the box, the Galaxy M52 5G is indeed very simple. The box is not premium. The contents in it are only a charger, cable, and manual. No jelly cases. In fact, there is no screen protector on the screen. So, make sure if you order the Galaxy M52 5G to first buy a screen protector and case because the phone is protected.

Design

The design lines of the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G still adhere to the characteristics of the M series in 2021. It can be seen from the back cover with vertical thin lines made of polycarbonate plastic. But, packaged with a glossy finish. What is different is the design of the camera model which is slightly different from the previous M series. The module is actually similar to the Samsung A series. The position of the buttons is still similar to other M series phones. Even though the screen is AMOLED, it doesn’t have a finger print unlock yet.

The body dimensions of the Galaxy M52 5G are quite thin and light. This is different from the previous Samsung M series which was thick because it carried a large and long-lasting battery. The thickness of the body is 7.4 mm, making the Galaxy M52 5G a Samsung phone with the thinnest dimensions compared to other M series. There are three color variants to choose from. Namely Icy Blue, Blazing Black, and White. The Icy Blue color reviewed by us is quite attractive and suitable for those who are confident.

Screen

The Galaxy M52 5G screen uses a resolution of 1080 x 2400 full HD plus. The screen size is large, which is 6.7 inches. Suitable for those who like large screen phones, for example for streaming or playing games. Moreover, the screen is Super AMOLED Plus with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Very convenient for scrolling social media or gaming.

Front Camera

The front camera has a punch hole design. Interestingly, the selfie camera carries a 32 MP resolution which is capable of recording videos up to 4K 30fps. This is what sets the M52 5G apart from the previous Samsung M series. This 32 MP front camera will be relevant for those who like to make Instagram Reels, TikTok videos, vlogs, live streaming, and more.

Rear Camera

The rear camera module of the Galaxy M52 5G only has 3 cameras. But, about it, because that’s pretty much enough. The main camera is 64 MP f1.8 which you will use a lot. Then, there is a 12 MP f2.2 ultrawide camera, and a 5 MP f2.4 macro camera. How is the result? Actually the resulting color is nice and sharp. However, the results are not so consistent. Sometimes it looks good, but sometimes it’s just average. Although, it should be admitted that the camera’s dynamic range is very good at capturing highlights and shadows. Especially when HDR mode is turned on. For the quality of its ultrawide lens, Samsung can indeed provide a fairly high standard. Likewise with macro lenses, can really be used properly. In night conditions, the photos are also minimal noise. Especially when using Night Mode. The results are very clear. We also likes the video recordings. Although, the level of stability is less. Naturally, because the Galaxy M52 5G is not equipped with an Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS).

Performance and Battery

The performance of the Galaxy M52 5G already uses a Snapdragon 778 G (6nm) processor that supports 5G. This chipset is quite agile and powerful, there are no problems in crushing games like PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends, or Call of Duty Mobile. To play Genshin Impact, it can be smooth with medium settings. The temperature on this phone is also quite cool. Does not give off excess heat. So comfortable when used to play games.

Although the battery capacity is only 5,000 mAh, the Galaxy M52 5G is fairly durable. From testing video playback with a resolution of 1080 at 120 fps, the battery can last almost 18 hours. That is, it can be concluded that this phone can last all day without even charging. However, users still have to buy another travel charger to optimize 25W fast charging, which we says is very important.

Conclusion

With a price tag of US$450 (8/128 GB), the Galaxy M52 5G offers the features Samsung users need: 5G network, thin and beautiful body, quality photos and videos. This phone is an alternative if the Galaxy A52s 5G feels too expensive. Also, those who are looking for a Samsung 5G phone with excellent features on all fronts, with a price tag of US$450.
